European vacations can be very costly depending on where you are traveling from around the world and which cities you want to explore.

Thankfully, for the budget conscious, there are different options to choose from. Here we are going to explore some of the more budget friendly destinations in Europe and why they are just as beautiful as the normal tourist destinations.

France
Many people travel to France to see the city of Paris, with the Eiffel Tower, and other museums and French landmarks. It serves as the top tourist destination in France. Lyon, France has a slew of attractions such as it’s outdoor music scene, the French Alps, and the Beaujolais wine region. The cuisine in Lyon also matches the quality of food in Paris but the prices are much better in Lyon altogether. From hotels, airfare, and food, Lyon serves as a beautiful budget-friendly city to visit in France.

Ireland
Belfast is a less expensive destination to visit when traveling to Ireland. Belfast offers sites such as the Ulster Museum, St. George’s Market, and the SS Nomadic. Known as the capital city, Belfast offers free admission to some of their more popular attractions and heavy discounts on restaurants and tours when traveling by Metro bus or the Northern Ireland rail.

Italy
Depending on the time of year, Florence is a great alternative to traveling to expensive Rome. Waiting until the Fall or Winter months to book your trip to Florence can be a huge money saver for the budget conscious. Free admission is granted to those who visit some of the smaller churches and museums, such as the Duomo, Florence’s Gothic Cathedral.

Germany
When visiting Germany, Berlin serves as the less expensive option instead of traveling to Munich. With free events such as the world famous, Oktoberfest, you can be budget conscious without missing some of the best sites in the city. Packed with affordable museums, parks, and available public transportation, Berlin is known to be one of the cheapest cities in Western Europe. Berlin also offers popular events such as Jazzfest as well as Christmas markets that are a great tourist destination.
